New work by Paul Chaney

About

Lizard Exit Plan results from Paul Chaney's month-long residency at Kestle Barton in November 2013. During this earlier period, Paul investigated all the resources that would come into play in case of an apocalyptic scale disaster isolating The Lizard, Cornwall, UK. He has built a body of research results that includes potentials for all kinds of food production and a division of the population into those already in essential occupations and those who would have to become subsistence farmers. The installation will have a strong interactive element. Set up as an office for the production and filing of research results, there will be areas of continuing public research aimed at family participation during the school holiday. The installation will also include an edition of FieldMachine, the computer programme produced by Paul Chaney and Kenna Hernly that allows the user to design systems for his or her own provision of food and biofuel, in this case bringing about a hypothetical reterritorialisation of Lizard land. A reconstruction of a breast plough will also be available for public trialing. Paul Chaney will be running an Encampment #1 Workshop on 25 May and another Off-Grid Weekend event on 16-17 August.
